Spy Shots: HTC Firestone

HTC Touch fans rejoice! Here’s a first look at the HTC Firestone, successor to the HTC Touch HD. It features a 3.6-inch WVGA touchscreen display, 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM, a 600-MHz Qualcomm 8250 CPU, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 w/A2DP, and a microSD expansion slot. No word yet on pricing or availability.

Crysis Running on the Samsung Omnia Smartphone

Ok, so this demo isn’t exactly using the Samsung Omnia’s own graphics chipset to run Crysis, but rather OTOY, “an upcoming server-side rendering service that’ll let you play high-end 3D games on low-powered machines.” Video after the break.

In this video, Crysis is being played through the Omnia’s browser with no additional plug-ins and is being controlled wirelessly with an Xbox 360 controller.

iRiver’s Touchscreen Wave Phone

Reigncom has announced that the iRiver Wave will be released on March 9th in Korea. This phone features a “3-inch 480 x 272 touchscreen, 4GB of flash storage, a two megapixel camera, Adobe Flash support, GPS and mobile TV.” Video after the break. More pics after the jump.

Other than a touchscreen, the phone packs WiFi and the traditional kitchen sink approach of Korean PMPs, with multimedia playback, FM radio, e-books and an electronic dictionary.

Android is impressive, and the G1 is a nice piece of hardware. Overall the phone performs well though, and it is merely the first step in what we foresee as the next true revolution in wireless.

Inside the T-Mobile G1

So you’ve seen the T-Mobile G1 and its Android interface, now take an inside look at the phone’s internals. Here’s something you probably didn’t know: “the trackball module is the same part that RIM uses in Blackberrys.” Video after the break. More pics after the jump.

There was an immediate snag: two chassis screws wouldn’t undo, so they had to force the casing. Once inside though, the phone revealed itself to be the standard messy circuitry and wire-looms affair, with a couple of minor surprises.

Check it out, ’cause you’re looking at what must be the world’s smallest QWERTY device capable of running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1. And with Willcom experimenting with Android, don’t be surprised to find this released in an alternate form later in the year

The stability is pretty nonexistent, but you can see that it actually works insofar as you can load it up on top of Windows Mobile and do stuff with it

Measuring 107 x 55 x 15.8 mm, the HTC Touch Dual features a 2.6-inch touchscreen, 2.0-megapixel camera, a 400-MHz Qualcomm MSM 7200 processor, 128MB RAM, 256MB ROM, microSD card slot, Bluetooth 2.0, and USB connectivity. Video after the break. More pics after the jump.

The Dual will be sold as an unlocked phone at Best Buy retail locations by the end of the second quarter. It will be running Windows Mobile 6.1 out of the box, but will still use HTC’s home page rather than the new WinMo 6.1 home page

Priced at just $500, the MIU HDPC features a 4-inch touchscreen display, 1GHz VIA C7M ULV processor, 4GB of DDR2 memory, Windows XP / Linux Qplus embedded OS, 60GB HDD or 4GB SSD, miniSD/microSD card slot, 5.0-megapixel camera, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, and two USB ports. You’d think the battery life would suffer running all that, plus its Via processor (500MHz or 1GHz), but the reported life is 7 hours at “high power” or an impressive 90 hours at low power settings. This multi-use gadget really does fall down on size, measuring 6.4 x 2.6 x 0.96 inches and weighing pounds, so it’s a pocket-stretcher
